This letter was recently mailed to Tribal Chairs as a notification letter for an upcoming consultation. DBHR will be submitting an updated biennial plan to SAMHSA for the combined mental health and substance use disorder block grant. In addition to the roundtable meetings and consultation, the Behavioral Health Advisory Council (with Steve Kutz, Cowlitz Indian Tribe, representing on the council for tribes) will be reviewing the biennial plan on July 13th.
I want to highlight that in addition to our application, DBHR would like to submit tribal data to SAMHSA to indicate tribal needs. DBHR is requesting that each tribe forward aggregate mental health and substance use disorder data to DBHR as each tribe feels comfortable; each tribe can submit as much or as little data as each feels comfortable, or not submit data. DBHR has not created a template for this data request as we are aware that each tribe will have unique data. However, if a tribe would like DBHR to give ideas for which data elements to submit, DBHR would be happy to offer this assistance.
Thank you very much, and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
